Safety Rules

Access and Authorization:

All users must be approved, certified by PIT staff, and sign in before using the PIT. Unauthorized individuals are not permitted to use the shop. Use the main door for access and ensure it is properly locked or secured when leaving.

Equipment and Machinery:

Only operate items or equipment that you have been trained and authorized to use. Two people must be present in the shop whenever someone is operating power tools or machines. Keep the door to the heavy machinery room open while anyone is present in the space.

Chemical Safety and Proper Handling:

Follow appropriate precautions when working with solvents, paints, adhesives, or other chemicals. Use proper protective equipment, vacuum hoods, and refer to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for unfamiliar materials.

Behavior and Conduct:

No horseplay, distractions, or approaching someone using moving machinery. Avoid working in the shop if tired, feeling sick, or in a hurry. Prioritize safety and follow instructions from the PIT crew.

Clean and Safe Environment:

Maintain a clean, organized workspace to prevent accidents and hazards. No food or beverages in the work areas.
