Fees & Project Planning
The Fisher Drug Discovery Resource Center supports projects ranging from
individual instrument use to assay development, biophysical characterization,
compound screening, and more extensive collaborative studies. Costs depend on
the scientific requirements of the project, the resources involved, and the
investigator’s institutional affiliation.
For budget planning purposes, we encourage investigators to contact the DDRC
before initiating work. An early discussion can help define the experimental
approach, identify the resources likely to be required, and develop an
appropriate cost estimate.
What Contributes to Project Cost?
Depending on the project, costs may include:
- Instrument use and training
- DDRC staff time for assay development, optimization, or experimental support
- Automated liquid handling and screening
- Compound library access, formatting, retrieval, and resupply
- Microplates, reagents, and other consumable materials
- Biophysical or analytical measurements
- Data processing, analysis, and compound prioritization
Not every project requires all of these resources. A small biophysical study,
for example, may have very different requirements from a high-throughput
screening campaign. We can help determine an appropriate experimental and
budgetary plan before work begins.
Rockefeller University Investigators
Rockefeller University investigators have access to internally supported rates
for DDRC instrumentation, services, staff support, training, and other resources.
External Investigators
The DDRC also works with investigators from other academic institutions, external organizations and
with the biopharma industry. Rates and project arrangements are higher and depend on the
resources required and the nature of the collaboration.
Please contact us to discuss your project and obtain an appropriate cost
estimate. A project does not need to be fully developed before contacting the
DDRC.
