Speaker bio(s)

Dr. Nada Jabado is a Professor of Pediatrics at McGill University and a pediatric neuro-oncologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. She leads a pioneering research program in pediatric brain tumors at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. Her group uncovered that pediatric high-grade astrocytomas are molecularly and genetically distinct from adult tumors, and identified a new molecular mechanism driving these tumors—recurrent somatic driver mutations in the tail of histone 3 variants. Dr. Jabado's ground-breaking work has created a paradigm shift in cancer with the first identification of histone mutations in human disease. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the 2024 L’Oréal-UNESCO International Award For Women in Science.
