Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet

Violin, viola, cello, piano

  • This event already took place in February 2020
  • Caspary Auditorium

The Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet is one of the few existing ensembles of this instrumentation, in contrast to the better represented form, the String Quartet. This ensemble has existed as a Berlin Philharmonic chamber music ensemble since 1985, and unites three permanent members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, concertmaster Daniel Stabrawa, violist Matthew Hunter, and cellist Knut Weber, with renowned concert pianist Markus Groh. This ensemble is committed to not only representing the standard repertoire of classical, romantic, and modern works, but also finding undiscovered masterpieces of the literature that encompasses over 400 works. The Quartet distinguished itself during its acclaimed debut tour of the United States in February 2018 with the premiere of Danny Elfman’s Piano Quartet, a work co-commissioned by the Lied Center in Lincoln, Nebraska and the group itself.
