Speaker bio(s)

In 1985, de Lange received her Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam and The Netherlands Cancer Institute. During her graduate work she studied with Piet Borst at the Dutch Cancer Center. In 1985, for her postdoctoral work, she joined Harold Varmus’ laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco. In 1990, she joined the faculty of The Rockefeller University where she currently is the Leon Hess Professor and director of the Anderson Center for Cancer Research.

de Lange has received numerous honors including the Vilcek Prize, the Dr. H.P. Heineken Prize, the Breakthrough Prize, the Canada Gairdner International Award, and the Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award. She is a foreign associate of the National Academy of Sciences as well as a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. de Lange is also an associate member of the European Molecular Biology Organization and a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Holland Society for Sciences and Humanities.
