Requirements for Candidates

Applicants must have a research or health professional doctoral degree or its equivalent. Degrees from other fields will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Rockefeller University admissions decisions are based on merit.

Applicants to the Clinical Scholars Program must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration for appointment in a Rockefeller University Laboratory.

  • Valid New York State medical license or eligibility for a limited permit.
  • Credentials suitable for appointment to The Rockefeller University Hospital.
  • Commitment to performing a human subjects study at The Rockefeller University Hospital to examine important biomedical questions under investigation in their host laboratory.
  • Training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

The application process includes both the completion of the online application http://scholarapplication.rockefeller.edu, including letters of reference, and a letter from the proposed mentor recommending the Scholar’s appointment and indicating both the human subjects project the Scholar will work on and the Scholar’s and mentor’s joint plan for the Scholar’s career development.

Scholar applicants are encouraged to identify potential mentors by reviewing the Rockefeller Laboratory Heads at http://www.rockefeller.edu/research/faculty/labheads/. Scholars should contact the potential mentor directly to discuss the possibility of joining the mentor’s lab. For additional information about potential mentors, Scholar applicants can contact Dr. Coller at coller@rockefeller.edu.

Applications are considered complete when we have received the completed application form, the required application materials, two letters of reference, and the mentor’s letter. The Search Committee will not review incomplete applications.

The application process for the Clinical Scholars Program is open. The application and supporting documents are due December 6, 2024. For an online application, go to http://scholarapplication.rockefeller.edu. For additional information contact Dr. Barry S. Coller at collerb@rockefeller.edu.
