2011 Nobel Prize Ceremony to be webcast live

Tomorrow, the family of Nobel Prize winner Ralph M. Steinman, who died September 30, will accept the Nobel medal and diploma on his behalf from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The ceremony will be Webcast live beginning at 10:20 a.m. Eastern Time. A video of the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony will also be available a few days later.

The Nobel Prize Award Ceremony takes place at the Stockholm Concert Hall, Sweden, on December 10 every year – the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death. At the ceremony, the Nobel Prize in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and the Prize in economic sciences are awarded to the Nobel Laureates.

Earlier this week, Rockefeller University’s Michel C. Nussenzweig, Sherman Fairchild Professor and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology, gave the Nobel Lecture in physiology or medicine at the Karolinska Institute on Steinman’s behalf. A video of his lecture will be available at the Nobel Prize Web site soon.
