Donald Pfaff, an honorary degree from Pace University. The degree will be presented to Dr. Pfaff, head of the Laboratory of Neurobiology and Behavior, on May 18.

Named:

Seth Darst, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a society of scientists and engineers that is dedicated to the use of science and technology for the general welfare. Dr. Darst, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, is one of 72 members and 18 foreign associates elected on April 29.

Vincent Fischetti, a speaker at the Royal Society, London. Dr. Fischetti, head of the Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Immunology, spoke at a workshop in London on May 8. His lecture was titled “The Use of Phage Lytic Enzymes for the Control of Pathogenic Bacteria.”

Jeffrey Ravetch, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, an independent policy research center that undertakes studies of complex and emerging problems. Dr. Ravetch, head of the Leonard Wagner Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Immunology, is one of 212 new members, who will be honored at a ceremony at the academy’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 11.
