Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment, the time of year when updates in benefits are permitted, will begin on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, and continue through Wednesday, November 22, 2023. The annual Benefits Fair will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Bass Dining Commons.  Vendors from the various benefit plans will be onsite to discuss and educate you on your eligible benefits.

During Open Enrollment, you can make elections or changes to eligible benefits through RUFirst. Please note that the changes made during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2024.  Open Enrollment will end on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

There are several notifications that you must be aware of. Please read them in the 2024 Plan Updates and Announcements.

Human Resources representatives will be available at the following Open Enrollment help sessions:

A Level Training/Classroom, Welch Hall

Wednesday, November 6th, 1pm-2pm

Wednesday, November 15th, 12pm-2pm

Monday, November 20th, 12pm-1pm

Additionally, this is a good time to review and update your Emergency Contact Information, Address, Phone number, and/or Veteran/Disability status. Your Emergency Contact information is stored in RUFirst, and we ask that you log in and enter your information.  This is information that is provided to Human Resources on your first day and oftentimes is not updated on a regular basis. Please contact Human Resources in Founder’s Hall, room 103, for assistance. Thank you for giving attention to this important matter.

Login to RUFirst BEFORE the Open Enrollment period begins with your RUFirst passphrase, to ensure your RUFirst passphrase is working properly and to review your current benefits. For further assistance with your login, please call the IT Helpdesk at ext. 8940 or Human Resources at ext. 7788.

Please review the following notices and announcements. VPN is required to access these sites.

What happens if I don’t take any action? If you don’t make any changes during Open Enrollment, your benefits will remain the same. However, if you have a Flexible Spending Account, you MUST update your enrollments each year for the benefit to continue. Please contact Benefits at ext. 7788 if you experience a life event outside of Open Enrollment.
