The primary cilium, also referred to as the cell's antenna, acts as a specialized cellular signaling hub. In Hedgehog signaling, Gli transcription factors take an unusual journey through this compartment before entering the nucleus to control gene expression. Dr. Subramanian will discuss how her lab's work is piecing together the mechanisms that transport, anchor, and release Gli along this cellular route, revealing how spatial organization controls signaling.
