Bingxu Liu, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington, working with Dr. David Baker. His research combines protein design and immunology to engineer immune systems with enhanced recognition precision, reprogrammed effector functions, and reduced immunogenicity. He received his Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the mentorship of Dr. Nir Hacohen and Dr. Darrell Irvine, where he discovered that the innate immune sensor STING functions as a proton channel, revealing a new paradigm for immune signaling. His work has been recognized with the Michelson Philanthropies & Science Prize for Immunology and the Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award.
