Strata
Nathan Williams earned graduate degrees from the Eastman and Juilliard schools. Formerly with the Continuum ensemble in New York, he was the principal clarinetist of the Winston-Salem Symphony and has been an instructor at East Carolina University School of Music, the Interlochen Arts Academy and Michigan State University’s School of Music. In 2008 he joined the faculty of the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. He has appeared as concerto soloist and given recitals at many distinguished venues around the world.
James Stern, violin and viola
James Stern, also a member of the Stern/Andrist Duo, has served on the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music and is now associate professor and chair of the String Division at the University of Maryland School of Music. He has taught master classes throughout North America and in China, Norway and Italy, and has performed at numerous festivals. Mr. Stern has played with the 21st Century Consort, the Contemporary Music Forum and the Smithsonian Chamber Players in the D.C. area. He also works as a conductor.

Strata
The members of Strata, playing together for more than 20 years, have been resident artists at the Banff Centre for the Arts and have appeared in New York City under the auspices of the International Society for Contemporary Music. Holders of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School, the trio is dedicated to music education at all levels, from the mentoring of young professionals to specially tailored presentations for grade schools.Audrey Andrist, pianoAudrey Andrist grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, and has played for audiences in North America, Japan, China and Germany. She is a member of the Verge Ensemble in Washington, D.C., and the Stern/Andrist Duo with her husband, James Stern.
