John C. Whitehead Presidential Fellowship

Open to talented young investigators pursuing research in all areas of biomedical science, the John C. Whitehead Fellowship is designed to provide unparalleled support to early-career scientists who have distinguished themselves as rising leaders in their field. Unlike traditional postdoctoral fellowships in which young researchers apprentice in a single laboratory, the Whitehead Presidential Fellowship enables its recipients to launch their own independent research initiatives, test unique hypotheses, and collaborate with leading scientists.

The fellowship is named in honor of University Trustee Emeritus John C. Whitehead in recognition of his dedication to public service, philanthropy, and the advancement of medical research. A recipient of the David Rockefeller Award for Extraordinary Service, John Whitehead has long been an advocate for science education and a champion of the University. The fellowship is an extension of his vision to train the scientific leaders of tomorrow and an enduring testament to his commitment to improving the common good.
