Starr Cancer Consortium

Established in 2006 and supported by The Starr Foundation, the Starr Cancer Consortium is a collaborative enterprise that leverages the combined resources and expertise of five institutions — The Rockefeller University, the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College — to strengthen research aimed at the understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Key areas of focus for the consortium include the accelerated development of technologies designed to unravel the genetic and molecular basis of cancers; application of these technologies in joint projects aimed at developing new approaches to diagnosis and treatment; and support for basic biological research into the fundamental cellular processes underlying cancer.
