Jessica Hopfield, Ph.D. ’91

Jessica Hopfield is a scientist and business leader with more than two decades of experience in the medical and healthcare fields. Her firm, J Hopfield Consulting, provides expert guidance and capital to start-up technology firms seeking to commercialize intellectual property. She is a former partner at McKinsey & Company in their Global Pharmaceutical and Medical Device practice. In this role, Dr. Hopfield served clients across pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and consumer industries with a focus on strategy, R&D management, and marketing. She also held executive positions at Merck Sharp & Dohme in Clinical Development, Outcomes Research, and Marketing.

Dr. Hopfield is a graduate of Rockefeller University in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience headed by the late Dr. Paul Greengard where she was also a postdoc. She then earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration as a Baker Scholar. Dr. Hopfield serves on the board of directors of Insulet Corporation, Editas Medicine and Maravai, and was the chair of Joslin Diabetes Center’s board of trustees from 2015 to 2019.
