Data Storage and Retention Policy
IMPORTANT: No external HD or flash drives are permitted for use. For large amount of files, please transfer them via box@RU..
Data generated from Cell Sorting conducted by FCRC Staff
- Collected data are transferred to corresponding Laboratory Shared Folder on CFS (\\rucfs.rockefeller.edu\Shares\Labs\LABHEADLab\RUShares\Flow Cytometry) by the morning of the next business day.
- Researchers are responsible to make archival copies of their data, preferably the next day after Cell Sorting.
- We suggest that researchers make at least two copies of the data and store them in separate locations.
- To conserve CFS space and costs, we suggest removing originals from CFS as soon as you have made copies of your data.
- For operation purposes, the FCRC retains data since 2002 but makes no guarantees of the retrievability of data that is older than six months.

Data generated from Advanced Flow Cytometry Analyzers – BD LSRII-1, BD LSRII-2 and BD LSR-Fortessa
- No personal data should be stored on the C:\ or D:\ drives of the instrument.
- No data or experiments should be exported to the D:\ drive. They should be exported to the T:\ drive for transfer to your CFS folders. Any data exported to the D:\ drive will be automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Permanent data storage on the P:\ drive is limited by quota to 200MB. Windows will not allow you to store more than that amount. If you attempt to export more than 200MB to the P:\ drive, the export will fail. You may keep up to 200MB in your folder on the P:\ drive in perpetuity.
- Data storage on the T:\ drive is not limited by quota, but is limited to seven (7) days retention time. After seven days from date of export, the files will be automatically deleted.
- Data within the DiVa software is not limited by quota, but is limited to seven (7) days retention time. After seven days from date of acquisition, the files will be automatically deleted.
- Researchers are responsible to make archival copies of their data immediately after they accomplished data acquisition:

Data generated from Advanced Flow Cytometry Analyzer – ThermoFisher Attune NxT
- After completion of the acquisition the experimental file should be temporary saved to the “T:\your folder” on the computer.
- FCS files should be exported to “T:\your folder\FCS“. Create a new folder with the name same as your experimental file with adding “_FCS” (Example: “xxxAT_YYYYMMMMDD_FCS” and export your FCS files into this folder.
- To avoid problems, after the completion of the experiment, the experimental file and FCS folder should be immediately transferred to your CFS Folder on RUShare or sent via box@RU. Delete all the experiment files and FCS files from T:\.

Data generated on FCRC Analysis Computers
- All the data files should be temporary saved to the local desktop (of the Analysis computer).
- No data could be stored on the FCRC Analysis Computers.
