Prof. Dr. Till Strowig is Head of the Department of Microbial Immune Regulation at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, Germany. His academic journey began with a degree in Medical Biotechnology from the Technical University of Berlin, followed by a PhD in Viral Immunobiology from The Rockefeller University under the supervision of Prof. Christian Münz. After completing his Ph.D., Prof. Strowig conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Immunobiology at Yale University with Prof. Dr. Richard Flavell, where he developed his expertise in microbial interactions and host immunity. He then led a Young Investigator Group at the HZI from 2013 to 2019 before being appointed Department Head. Prof. Strowig's research focuses on the interplay between members of the microbial ecosystems in the human gut, with a particular interest in how gut bacteria can be utilized in the future to promote human health.
