Subject: KN95 face masks available for no charge in the university stockroom

Dear members of the Rockefeller community,

In an effort to provide more protective face covering options for our community, the University has acquired and will provide limited numbers of KN95 masks to RU employees and students starting today, January 4, 2022.  Each Laboratory/Department should designate one member to collect the masks for the entire Laboratory/Department from the University Stockroom.  The person collecting the masks will be required to sign for their group’s masks. There is no charge or fee to obtain these masks.

The University Stockroom is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and is located on the B level of the Plaza Building.

The initial distribution of KN95s is designed to provide two masks for each employee/student. If you require additional masks, please notify restart@rockefeller.edu. The Stockroom is not authorized to distribute additional KN95s without approval from Restart. Note that requisitions for KN95s from external sources will not be processed at this time.

Guidelines for care of use of KN95s is attached (see below to download the attachment). If you have questions about these guidelines, please contact labsafety@rockefeller.edu.

While the University Policy on Face Covering does not require use of KN95s, you are encouraged to use the KN95s while on campus and please feel free to use them wherever face covering is warranted.

Questions about the KN95 distribution program should be sent to restart@rockefeller.edu.

Please take care of yourselves and each other,

Tim

P.S. Many thanks to my colleagues Chris Keogh, Frank Schaefer and Amy Wilkerson for their tireless efforts to procure and make these masks widely available!
