Subject: Update on COVID-19 policies

Dear members of the Rockefeller community,

The decline in COVID-19 case numbers on campus has continued over the past week. There are currently 42 positive cases in the 14-day lookback window, but only 7 of those were reported in the last seven days. To see the trend in the 14-day lookback metric, please download the PDF file below (and note that the current metric is updated in real-time on the university’s COVID-19 website).

While this trend is very encouraging, continued vigilance is needed  because we experienced nearly as many cases this month as we did over the entirety of 2021 and the current caseload is still more than 4 times what it was when we initially encouraged working remotely in December. The university continues to strongly encourage those who can effectively work remotely to do so and the general guidelines, provided most recently one week ago, now remain in effect through February 11. Should the current trends continue, we hope to relax some of the current guidelines over the upcoming weeks and are targeting a return to pre-Omicron operations (e.g., approved hybrid work plans) during the week of February 28. For planning purposes, another update will be sent no later than February 7.

Below are some additional points of guidance about the current policies:

  • While virtual meetings are encouraged, there is not a prohibition of in-person meetings. Specifically, in-person participation in lab meetings is permitted, although the ability to join via Zoom needs to be maintained.
  • In-person seminars are permitted for Rockefeller personnel. The speaker can remove their face mask while presenting as long as they can maintain a distance of at least 8 feet from the audience.
  • The face mask policy remains in effect
  • RUStrong continues to offer testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Employees and students coming to campus to work must test at least once a week.

If you have any question about the current policies, please send an email to restart@rockefeller.edu

Please take care of yourselves and each other,

Tim
