Subject: CAMPUS ACCESS UPDATE: Notice to RU essential personnel and lab personnel conducting approved COVID-19 research or conducting intermittent critical lab operations

Notice to RU essential, critical lab and approved COVID-19 research personnel regarding campus access

The University has programmed the following entrances for RU ID card key access by personnel who are on approved lists as essential personnel, critical laboratory personnel, and approved COVID-19 research personnel only. Effective immediately, personnel in these categories can and are encouraged to use these entrances to access campus to reduce the number of pedestrians entering and facilitate vehicle access at the 66th Street Gate.

  • 68th Street Turnstile – located on 68th Street east of York Avenue
  • Avery Gate Turnstile – located on York Avenue between 67th and 68th Streets
  • 64th Street north ramp access gate and turnstile – located on the north side of the 64th Street vehicular
    access.

The Pedestrian Bridge between the Weiss Research Building and Scholar’s Residence and the turnstile by the 64th Street Security Gate House remain locked.

RU ID Card key access if for approved personnel only; do not loan your ID card to anyone else.

If your RU ID card does not activate the card-reader at one or more of these entrances, please proceed to the 66th Street Gate for entry. At your earliest convenience, please send an email to security@rockefeller.edu to inform them that your RU ID card did not grant access to one of these three entrances. Security will endeavor to program your ID card for access as soon as possible. The lists of approved personnel are dynamic and it is to be anticipated that not every name has been captured in the updated programming.

Access at 66th Street Gate remains in effect for authorized personnel. You must display your RU ID card to enter. If you have the logo sticker, you may proceed after Security clears you. If you do not have a sticker, Security must confirm that you are on an approved list before you will be allowed to enter.

As a reminder, please limit your access to campus to the fewest visits and least amount of time needed to fill your essential functions, take care of intermittent critical laboratory operations or conduct approved COVID-19 research-related activities. After entering campus, please proceed directly to your work areas and limit your travel on campus to only those locations required to meet your responsibilities. This is to help ensure maximum social distancing and lessen the impact on those who must be on campus to ensure the security, safety, maintenance, cleaning and waste management of all campus facilities.

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we all face this challenge.
