Phase-In Facts

  • For the first day of phase-in, the children will come in half groups. Parents of infants and new children are expected to stay in the room for the first couple of days (infant parents — see phase-in schedule).
  • We ask that all parents be available to stay with your child or be in the building during the first week of phase-in.
  • Each day, we increase the amount of time your child is here. After the first few days, the half groups will be brought together.
  • The teachers will work with each individual family to decide when the parents can begin leaving, how they should say good-bye and when they need to return.
  • All parents must talk with the teachers before leaving and must say good-bye to their child.
  • The teachers will inform you as to when your child will be staying for lunch and/or nap.
  • Please read the Parent Handbook for other ideas about how you can help your child with the phase-in process.

Your child’s phase-in schedule is a guideline of the way the first two weeks will go. All families will be expected to respect the schedule of times that their children may attend. This phase-in is very fast, and we would like all families to be aware that some children may need more time to adjust. For others, we realize, it may seem too slow. We are aware of the stresses and difficulties phase-in may cause working families, but we believe that parents and teacher-caregivers together can form the secure base that all children need. The phase-in process is a foundation for that secure base.
