Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)

The intensity of absorption of infrared light (generally in the range 4000-200cm-1) by a sample is typical of its chemical/structural features. The specific IR bands are characteristic of chemical bonds and their special orientation. In biochemistry, IR spectroscopy is most useful in studying solution state secondary structures of proteins.
