The Rockefeller University's Science Research Program (SRP) provides outstanding, highly-motivated K-12 teachers an opportunity to experience mentored laboratory research. Teachers are matched with scientists to work over the summer on an ongoing research project. The Program provides a course in critical thinking and the interactions of science and society, a course in science communication that culminates in a poster presentation, and a weekly workshop in which teachers work together and with scientists and educational experts to translate the summer's experience into engaging hands-on activities. In addition to the summer session, there will be opportunities to return to the Rockefeller campus for events during the year and an option to return for a second summer. Teachers also attend seminars given by Rockefeller faculty. In 2012, the seven-week program runs from June 25 through August 10, 2012.

A $5,000 stipend is provided as is support for school supplies to implement the labs and curriculum that teachers develop over the summer. To qualify, pre-service teachers must be enrolled in a graduate education program and in-service teachers must currently be employed in a school.
