Depth of Penetration into the DNA Helix by Minor Groove Intercalating Proteins (Science 271:778 (1996))

The depth of penetration for the minor groove intercalating wedge increases from left to right and the blue scale serves only to guide the eye. The leading edge of the wedge in each case is shown as a red molecular surface with supporting sidechains in magenta.
