Travel Directions

The Society of General Physiologists' Annual Meeting is held at the Marine Biological Laboratory , which is located in Woods Hole, MA, on the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, about 75 miles south of Boston.
By Car
it is about a two hour drive from Boston. Once over the Bourne Bridge to Cape Cod, follow Route 28 south to Falmouth; from there Woods Hole is 5 miles and the road is clearly marked by signs to Woods Hole and the Islands (further details will be mailed in August in the Program and Abstracts booklet).

By Plane
travelers coming to Woods Hole should fly into Logan Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, or Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island. There is bus service directly from Logan Airport to Woods Hole (see below). Boarding for the Bonanza bus to Woods Hole is just outside the baggage claim area. Unloading in Woods Hole is in front of the Steamship Authority, which is a 5 minute walk to the MBL. If you choose to fly into Green Airport in Providence instead, please be aware that there is no direct bus transportation between Green Airport and Woods Hole; Bonanza bus services the airport, but you must change buses in Providence and again in Wareham (check the website www.bonanzabus.com for the latest information). We suggest that you not fly into Hyannis which, from a travel agent's viewpoint, is the closest airport to Woods Hole. Although Hyannis is only 25 miles away, there is little public transportation between Hyannis and Woods Hole and car rental facilities are limited.

By Bus
there is a direct connection from Logan Airport, and an indirect connection from Green Airport, to Woods Hole via Bonanza Bus Lines. It is the most economical way to get to the Marine Biological Laboratory from either airport. The cost is approximately $42 round trip from either airport. We suggest you contact Bonanza directly when making your specific travel plans (www.bonanzabus.com or 1 800 556 3815) as their departure schedules vary and new trips may be added.

On arrival in Woods Hole
proceed directly to the Marine Biological Laboratory's Swope Center. From the bus stop walk 100 yards up Luscombe Avenue to Water Street; turn left on Water Street, cross the drawbridge, continue another 100 yards to MBL Street. Turn right onto MBL Street and the Swope Center will be straight ahead at the end of the road. (click here to see additional information)

Meal Information

Participants who choose to stay offsite may still purchase meals on an individual basis in the Swope Center cafeteria. Breakfast is $11.50; lunch, $18.50; and dinner, $38.00.
