Biophysical studies of eukaryotic gene expression.

burley-s.jpg My laboratory works on the development of a detailed understanding of the physical principles governing molecular recognition in biological systems. We examine model systems derived from the transcriptional and translational control machines responsible for regulating eukaryotic gene expression. We use X-ray crystallography and other biophysical methods to characterize the three-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules and their complexes with DNA, RNA or other ligands.
