Fiscal Year 2012 Pricing

(July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012)

The costs of HTS depend upon the nature and scope of the project. Fees can include compound delivery and formatting, instrument use, and technical support. An annual fee per user is requested to cover the HTS infrastructure such as databases and software and includes scientific consultations before, during and after screening and an initial training on the instruments. The fee structure is set up to encourage and support "best practice" in HTS and appropriately allocate the fees with resource use levels per user.

In addition to performing the actual screening work, the Laboratory will need to purchase appropriate screening reagents and certain disposables. These may include enzymes, detection reagents, antibodies, peptides, fluorescent molecules, specialized ELISA plates, plastic tips, and control compounds. Depending upon what types of materials are required, these costs can range from approximately $3000-$30,000. Converting a validated hit compound to a lead/tool compound can require "follow-up" chemistry and compound purchasing to conduct the required secondary and tertiary assays and custom chemical syntheses. This validation work can carry significant costs. The HTSRC offers guidance in this area.
