Postdoctoral Fellows Program
The university has a strong commitment to the full involvement of postdoctorates in all aspects of the scientific, educational and cultural activities of the community. Each year, more than 400 postdoctorates are associated with the research activities of the 70 laboratories, where they are encouraged to continue their scientific training and pursue their research interests. In addition, they typically participate in the many seminars and colloquia held at the university and are particularly active in the weekly Rockefeller Research Exchange seminar series.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) Program
The SURF program enables college students with a strong interest in the biological sciences to participate in laboratory research. Each year, 15 outstanding college sophomores and juniors are chosen from a pool of around 500 applicants. SURF students work with scientists who are leading the world's basic research in the biological sciences. The laboratory projects expose students enrolled in basic science programs to the research environment and assist in consolidating future career decisions to enter graduate programs in the sciences. The deadline for applications to this 10 week long summer program is February 1.

Gateways to the Laboratory Summer Program
The Weill Cornell/Rockefeller/Sloan-Kettering Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program has the highest number of underrepresented minority students (URM) of any MD-PhD Program in the country. As a means of increasing the pool of qualified URM and disadvantaged applicants to MD-PhD Programs, we invite students to apply to our unique Gateways to the Laboratory Summer Program, for freshman and sophomores who are contemplating pursuing a combined MD-PhD training. The Gateways to the Laboratory Program takes up to 15 students per summer. In addition to conducting independent research projects at one of our three institutions (Weill Cornell Medical College, The Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center), Gateways students participate in weekly journal clubs, laboratory technique workshop, clinical skills workshop, mock MCAT exam and a Gross Anatomy lecture and tour.

Precollege Science Education Programs
Science Outreach, supported in part by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, matches more than 50 high school juniors and seniors with graduate and postdoctoral mentors to gain laboratory research experience. Over half of science outreach students are female and one-fourth are underrepresented minorities. All hail from a broad cross-section of public, private and parochial schools. Every year 10 percent of our participants become Intel Science Talent Search semi-finalists, with some advancing to the finals and winning. Mentored laboratory research experience also is provided for more than a dozen K-12 science teachers, with half returning for their second summer.

Bard-Rockefeller Program
The Bard-Rockefeller Program, started in 2000, is a collaboration between Bard College and The Rockefeller University. Among many joint ventures, the university offers specialized science courses to Bard undergraduates, allowing more advanced graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to gain teaching experience at Bard and creating the opportunity for undergraduates to study the sciences through one of the world’s premier research universities.
