Usage fees are based on the following hourly rates, billed in ¼ hour increments (15 minutes).

You are urged to book only those hours that you estimate your sort or analysis will require. The hourly fee is calculated on the booked hours plus overtime hours except for the cases described below.
Cancellation Fees
- No fee will be charged for the booked hours if the hold on the schedule is canceled 48 business hours prior (for Monday sorts cancellations must be made the previous Thursday) to the scheduled sort for the
FACS Vantage SE or FACSAria Sorter.
- 0.33 of the total hourly fee (0.66 of the total for external users) will be charged for unused booked time, if the hold on the schedule was cancelled after the deadline specified above.
Pre-sort set-up/Post-sort clean-up fees
The total charge for FACS Vantage SE sorts includes an additional hour flat fee ($64, internal users; $128, external users) to cover the required time for pre-sort alignment and post-sort clean-up. If more than one sort is performed on the same day, this set-up/clean-up charge will be pro-rated and divided accordingly among all users who had sorts run on that day.
The total charge for FACSAria sorter includes an additional flat fee ($32 for internal users,; $64 for external users) to cover the required time for pre-sort set-up and post-sort clean up. For sorts of yeast/bacteria, the flat rate is $99 ($198 for external users). If more than one sort is performed on the same day, this setup/cleanup charge will be pro-rated and divided accordingly among all users who had sorts run on that day.
Hours for sorting on the FACS Vantage SE can now be extended. Please be sure that you book enough time for the after-hour sort. After-hour sort time should be booked in advance. We cannot guarantee extended hours without advance booking.
Staff assistance
For non-sorting experiments, you may enlist FCRC staff assistance (e.g., for experiment design, instrument set up, advice on sample preparation, sample acquisition and data analysis, experimental troubleshooting, or other consultation) free of charge for internal users (external users: $49.00/hr).
Computer usage
Usage of the MAC and PC computers at FCRC (other then attached to the instruments) is free of charge.
While every effort will be made to schedule changes in usage fees to coincide with the University's fiscal year and to provide advance notification of such changes, the University reserves the right to modify usage fees at any time and without notice.
