Our laboratory studies the biology of weight regulation. The caloric energy of ingested food is stored mainly in adipose tissue, excess or
diminished adipose stores come about by changes in the balance between food intake and energy expenditure. Excess energy storage (obesity)
constitutes a major risk factor for hypertension, diabetes and elevated blood lipids. Our aim is to develop a better understanding of the
relationships among food intake behavior, energy expenditure and the biochemistry of adipose tissue in humans
