Faculty
Core faculty and staff members of the Center are listed in the Table below, along with their field of interest and major awards and honors. They include 4 Nobel laureates, 3 Lasker Award winners, 17 members of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), 11 members of the Institute of Medicine (I0M), 7 members of the Association of American Physicians (AAP), 8 members of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), and 9 investigators supported at present or in the past by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. They hold a total of 142 U.S. patents on inventions related to clinical and translational science and 101 of their technologies have been licensed to companies for further development to improve human health. They span a very wide spectrum of disciplines, including dermatology, psychiatry, hematology, immunology, oncology, metabolic diseases, hepatology, endocrinology, nephrology, infectious diseases, addictive diseases, sensory perception, human genetics, neurology, and biostatistics. They also span a wide range of expertise along the translational research spectrum, with some faculty members focusing on basic physiologic and pathologic mechanisms at the cellular, molecular, and atomic level, and others primarily engaged in rigorous observational and mechanistic studies involving human subjects.
